(RSS Feed Link) Feb 2010: Falik - No Zouks!NO MORE ZOUKS! NO MORE ZOUKS! Just kidding. Not really. Songs that have little or no bouzouki in them. Well, except for "Ay Mambo" and "It Could Be Anything" where the zouks sound more like guitars. Jan 2010: Falik - Travelin' SongsSongs that inspire - or were inspired by - traveling. Yes, there's a thread. Imagine you wanted to travel Europe, from the British Isles all the way through Asia, "Celtasian Boogie" might be just the ticket. You might even want to salute your transportation, so you would write an ode "To a Blind Camel". South East Europe would inspire "Forever Babylon". And while in "New Falik City" you discover the "Trade of the Tricks". And of course, as you were walking down the road - you suddenly find yourself waking up in a hospital and asking the nurse "What Snake"? It could happen... Dec 2009: Falik - The SolosThis podcast contains songs that feature some of my favorite Falik solos on the Irish bouzouki. "Too Tight" was an easy call - I'm not sure how I actually pulled that one off, it was played on my little 'zouk. I'm not sure how I pulled off the solo on "May Day", either, which was played on a 'zouk that I don't ordinarily play. It's definitely some of the fastest and most technical of my solos. Picking from "Dreams" was difficult, "When I Look" has a great solo, but I went with "Mystery of Pain" because it's so understated you don't realize that I'm actually improvising. "The Will of Love" is probably my all time favorite because it's so dramatic. The solo in "All I See is Rain" is my favorite rock lead. Played on my acoustic Elloree, effects were added during mix down. From "Bring It" is "Brinig It"; it's just fun. | Web MP3 Player | links | chat | contact | recipies | podcasts | site search | home | |
